Esposende – A Guarda

A stage that moves away from the coast to go a few kilometres inland and discover charming places and beautiful landscapes such as the stretch along the banks of the Neiva River.

After the occasional climb, we reach the village of Viana do Castelo, a place worth a stop. The rest of the stage to Caminha has a slightly more rugged but manageable profile. There are a few sections of stairs until you reach the coastal town of Vila de Âncora, but these are well signposted.

The route follows the sea until you reach Caminha, where you have to take the ferry or a boat to cross the river Minho and finish the stage in the fishing village of A Guarda.
