Stage 1, The Northern Way

This stage starts at the Bridge of Santiago in Irún, a city on the border with France, and runs along the coast of Guipuzkoa and its mountains, with important climbs such as Jaizkibel.

 

Once you leave the Irún region, the ascent to the Hermitage of Guadalupe begins.

 

At the top, the views of Irún and Hondarribia are incredible. The route continues with easy stretches combining ascents and descents until Pasajes, where to descend to the port and take the boat that crosses the estuary there are some stairs that make it difficult to access with the bike. From Donosti you leave via Monte Igueldo, which begins and ends with a climb.

 

The final stretch runs along tracks and mostly wooded areas until you reach Zarautz.
